Background

Joel Adams joined DIAL in January 2015 to pursue a PhD, under the supervision of Dr Ajith Parlikad. His main area of interest is risk-based asset management.  In his PhD, Joel is researching on how to optimise maintenance plan based on the dynamicity of assets’ criticality.

Before starting his PhD, Joel completed a Masters degree in Control Systems from the Imperial College London. He also hold BEng.(1st Class Honours) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Niger Delta University, Nigeria. After completing his first degree, Joel worked as a technical sales engineer for AOS Orwell, an Oil Service company. In his free times he enjoys singing gospels.

As part of his Masters program, Joel worked with Prof. Thomas Parisi on an industrial problem proposed by ABB where he developed an algorithm for detecting drift faults in sensors of industrial processes.
