Position

Researcher

Affiliation

Dr David Morgan

Interests

In 2008 David became involved in the development of a paper "Towards a sustainable industrial system - with recommendations for education, research, industry and policy"  (http://www.ifm.eng.cam.ac.uk/sis/) which was launched in September 2009.

In 2010 David is now involved in following up on the recommendations of the report. Taking inputs from those who are active in industrial practice, policy, research and education, the aim is to identify the key contributions that manufacturing academics (through education and research) can make towards the following questions:

  • What are the most sustainable practices in industry and how do we spread these exemplars amongst practitioners as quickly as possible?
  • How do we develop sustainable industrial systems?

Doctoral Research

David has recently completed his research into alternate methods of processing a difficult to handle polymer waste stream. The project investigated the processing of thermally sensitive and mixed materials into a potentially useful form, and identifying possible applications for the resultant materials.
