Dr Caren WeinbergAcademic Interests
BackgroundCaren has recently completed her PhD in the Centre for Technology Management. Her research interests include mergers and acquisitions of technology based firms, business strategy and entrepreneurial tendencies as well as innovation. She is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Bologna where she teaches and collaborates with renowned researchers from the Department of Economics with regard to intellectual property. She is also a visiting professor at Taiwan's Graduate Institute of Technology Management in Taipei. While in Cambridge she taught several technology management subjects to 3rd and 4th year engineering students, as well as being the Deputy Director of the i-Teams initiative which was started at MIT. The program continues to provide a unique opportunity for students to build go-to-market strategies for Cambridge's leading-edge technologies and preeminent labs. Caren maintains an active role in the program as a member of the steering committee. Prior to pursuing an academic career, Caren held senior positions at several multinationals including Digital Equipment Corporation, Aurec and Motorola as well as a number of positions with start-ups. She has an extensive international management background, with over 20 years in global computer and telecom industries where she worked in Finance, Strategic Planning, Marketing, Business Development and Alliance Management. Caren was also very active in the Cambridge community where she was an energetic volunteer holding positions at both the college and department level as well as sitting on committees such as the Cambridge Futures Board, Mentor Network and the Greater Cambridge Partnership's Women's Forum. She was the founder of the Cambridge Graduate Women's Network and continues to mentor students, budding entrepreneurs and professionals alike. She continues to pursue similar activities worldwide and will be teaching graduate and undergraduate courses soon in Israel. |
