Former student wins international design award

David Wolffe, who graduated from the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos in 1986, has been awarded the Japan Institute of Design Promotion’s prestigious 2015 Good Design Award for his company’s innovative orbital backpack. The awards have been running since 1957 and previous winners include Dyson, Google, Sony and Honda.

David Wolffe, founder of Wolffepack, said ‘It's a fantastic milestone for us and recognition of all the great work that has come from the wider Wolffepack team.’

The Wolffepack orbital backpack is “the world's only backpack that swings your stuff to the front but stays strapped to your back”.
