"Tackling Industrial Complexity: the ideas that make a difference"

This conference was organised by the Manufacturing Complexity Network whose aim is to bring together researchers and industrialists to address problems associated with complexity in industry.

This was the second international conference and built on the success of the first, held at the University of Warwick in September 2000. That was attended by over 150 delegates including visitors from 12 different countries. There were contributions from both industry and academia.

The theme of this conference was "ideas that make a difference", reflecting the fact that, even in such a diverse field as the study of complex systems, ideas are now emerging that can and do provide industry with new insights and novel approaches for tackling problems associated with complexity. The aim was to provide a forum where participants could have access to and discuss the many fascinating methodologies and techniques already on offer as well as seeing what is being developed or is just over the horizon.
