ProjectsProject work in collaborating companies takes up 40% of the year and forms the backbone of ISMM. Subjects range from redesigning a water wheel for local power generation in Sri Lanka to proposing a more efficient scheduling system for a precision die-casting company. Each project deals with a live issue relevant to the company. The task is described in a one-page brief and the projects are allocated on the basis of the graduates' voting preferences. The work is supervised by the company concerned and you behave as if you were a company employee. At the end of each project the team, normally two graduates, explains its findings in a formal presentation and follows this up with a comprehensive written report.
