Centre for Technology Management
|
Technology - emerging research themesThe CTM research agenda is regularly stimulated by enquiries that fall outside the core areas of technology and innovation management. Specific projects may then be set up to address these unusual enquiries - which may in time lead on to whole new areas of research that are of much wider interest. Examples of such themes are the issues of industrial sustainability, and the degree to which technology management research can address these. An associated issue is that of technology insertion - the utilisation of new or improved technology in an existing product. Work in this area continues to develop theory and practice that will assist managers optimise the use of technology over the whole lifecycle of a product or system. In the wider business context, this research leads on to consider the whole business system, and the ways in which product/system manufacturers can support the customer by offering a full service and support solution. |
