Managing Strategic Investments: Toward a Resource Allocation and Analysis Tool (SIRAT)
Academic and Industrial ContextMaking a decision on strategic investments is not easy, as not all investment would turn out to be successful. Given a fixed amount of resource, and a wide range of promising new processes, methods, and systems, how could a company decide in which to invest? Knowledge-based systems have long been widely applied in supporting complex decision analysis. This research utilises a hybrid knowledge-based system of Fuzzy Logic, Rule-Based Reasoning, and Case-Based Reasoning to support managers in making optimal strategic investment decisions.
