Research

Design management
Improving the ways in which design can be managed and exploited at product, firm and national levels.

Distributed information and automation
Intelligent automation technologies to support flexible manufacturing operations and supply networks; technologies and systems enabling automatic identification of manufactured objects throughout the supply chain.

Industrial photonics
Pioneering industrial laser systems for a range of novel applications, including high performance and high-efficiency laser sources, advanced fabrication technologies and process modelling of new manufacturing processes.

Industry & government
Economic, technology and political trends likely to influence the business environment; understanding industrial policy and appropriate intervention mechanisms to support innovation and economic growth.

International manufacturing
Manufacturing in a global context, including international manufacturing and supply networks, supplier selection and management, global alliances and relocation of production facilities.

Production processes
Innovative production technologies with an emphasis on commercial priorities and the transfer of technology into industry.

Strategy and performance
Understanding and improving the way strategic choices are made, plans are developed and implemented, and performance is measured and achieved.

Technology management
Technology-related decisions across the spectrum of business activities; providing comprehensive support to managers, based on an integrated understanding of science, engineering and business management.

Education

Undergraduate

Manufacturing Engineering Tripos
MET is a programme for 3rd and 4th-year Cambridge engineering students that integrates management, business and interpersonal skills with engineering knowledge and industrial engagement.

Postgraduate

Masters programme - ISMM - Industrial Systems, Manufacture and Management
ISMM prepares graduates from numerate disciplines for fast track careers in industry through an intensive programme of taught modules and industrial projects. Students spend more than half their time in companies in the UK or mainland Europe.

Research degrees
Research students follow one-year MPhil and three-year PhD programmes covering management, technology and policy issues. They receive close, individual support from an expert in their chosen field.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP)
KT Partnerships involve high calibre graduates (KTP Associates) who work in a company for two or three years to achieve strategic improvements in the company's operation.

Post-experience

Masters in manufacturing leadership
MLP is for high-potential middle managers already established in their careers; its modular structure allows participants to continue in their company roles, preparing them to meet new challenges by developing their operational, strategic and business capabilities.

This list aims to cover all the publicly available content areas of this website.

It is an alphabetically arranged menu which should enable you to find whatever you are seeking. If the item you want has no link, then it may have been deleted from this server. You may be able to find it by using the Cambridge University search engine facility (right end of top menubar above)

We regularly check this site for bad links using a 'bad link checker', however links can fail for a variety of reasons. If you are aware of a failed link, please let us know by emailing to ahr@eng.cam.ac.uk.
