Tools and Techniques

Dial has developed a range of practical tools which can be applied in companies to tackle particular issues related to Auto-ID and responsiveness.

RFID opportunity check

A Rapid scanning process that identifies new opportunities offered by RFID for a particular company. It is suitable for both retailers and manufacturers and is a natural forerunner to DIAL's in-depth RFID roadmapping and tag placement tools.

RFID roadmapping

This combines DIAL's in-depth knowledge of RFID with the IFM's extensive expertise in roadmapping. The process provides a deep understanding of the potential benefits of RFID for the business and can predict the timing of specific opportunities and developments for that company.

Tag placement service

A complete testing system designed to assess how particular products will affect tag performance, where tags should be placed for optimum results, how critical position and alignment are and how the technology will perform under different conditions in the supply chain.

Complexity and responsiveness audits

Two straightforward auditing tools: the complexity audit locates bottle necks in an operational system and identifies their causes; the responsiveness audie assesses the ability of an organisation to respond to unexpected problems and identifies areas for improvement.
